Please take the time to read this; we have shipped over 1300 flight controls.
Our goal is to share our experience with you to save you money and make this a smooth process.

OUCH!

We don't want a bad shipping experience for your valuable part.

  Do's and Don'ts of Shipping
1

All shipping companies charge by the pound and over-all dimensions.

Please use the simple instructions and chart provided.

SHIPPING CHART
2

Do Not: build your box from 2x10 s and ¾ inch plywood- this adds excessive weight. (Please read (1) again).

DO: Use 1/2 inch plywood - it's adequate

3

Do Not build your crate from pressed board, particle board or OSB.

DO: buy real ½ inch plywood. (4 or 5 ply will work better than 3 ply)

We will not return your overhauled flight control in a box built from pressed board, particle board or OSB because the box may fall apart.

DO: To avoid delays in shipping and extra crating fees, please spend the extra $5.00 per sheet and buy the right stuff.

Use 1.5 inch course thread Philips head screws to screw your box together
4

Do Not use Styrofoam PEANUTS to pack your flight control or any other parts; they are messy and do not work that well as they shift away from the part needing protection.
Besides, it’s an outright “rude” thing to do.

We Do Not want them in our shop and you Do Not want them in yours. We will make a point to send them back to you.

DO: Instead, use foam blocks … or, in a pinch, newspapers.

5

handles.gifDO: put handles on both ends of the crate so the shipping company can move your 75 lb box. Solid electrical wire works the best. (see photos)

6

Avoid dents; Do Not stack the trim tab horns on top of each other when crating two parts together. Pad the tip (weight horn or cover) well to avoid damage.

7

Do Not send your bonding straps or static wicks; please keep them with the airplane.

8

We Do Not use truck companies or UPS to return your parts. They will not insure the contents or they may not pay a claim even if the item is insured.

DO: Use FedEx - In most cases, it is only an extra $25-$50 dollars to ship your high-dollar part using Fed Ex (we get a 20% discount on Fed Ex).

9

If you are using a Truck line to ship
(I.e. R&L, Yellow, PIE, etc)

DO: List the content as class 56 “Scrap Aluminum”.

Do Not write “Aircraft Parts” on the shipping label or the freight will cost 200% more.

DO: Please pay freight at your end.
We will not accept freight collect shipments unless arrangements have been made prior to shipping.

10

DO: For truck lines only; screw 2x4 shipping skids to the bottom of your crate.

Trucking companies will use a fork lift to move your box; skids will make it easier for them.
